Valkenburg – Schin op Geul – SIMPELVELD – Kerkrade (Miljoenenlijn) & Bocholtz – Vetschau
Southern Limburg has an international flair and so does the ZLSM. Halfway through the main line, in Simpelveld, you can switch to a rail bus for an excursion to Vetschau, just across the German border, on the oldest cross-border railway in the Netherlands. Simpelveld has a beautiful station with signal boxes from which semaphore signals and switches in the yard are operated by hand, just like in old times. Riding on a steam train through the hills of southern Limburg is a truly extraordinary experience.
